Green Lentil with Swiss chard thermos Kitcheri

3 tablespoons of green lentil
1 tablespoon of barley
1 tablespoon of rice
2 cups packed swiss chard
¼ cup of diced carrots
1 tsp of olive oil
Black pepper to taste
1 ½ cup of water*
½ tsp cumin powder
¼ tsp turmeric powder **
24 oz thermos or food jar for hot foods
salt to taste
1. Soak lentils, barley and rice together overnight
2. Strain and rinse lentil mixture
3. Heat olive oil and add black pepper in 2 QT pan
4. Add carrots and lentil mixture and stir for 2-3 minutes
5. Add water, cumin and turmeric
6. Bring to boil and add swiss chard
7. Lower heat to moderate and cover and cook for about 7 minutes
8. Add mixture to thermos
9. Seal thermos TIGHTLY
10. Can open in about 1 hour or longer, add salt to taste and then mix thoroughly
11. Enjoy with or without squeeze of lemon
Makes approximately 2 cups
* Can adjust amount of water for desired consistency
**CAUTION Turmeric stains counters and clothing yellow
